WASHINGTON, DC (January 28, 2023) — Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology in the 118th Congress.
"North Carolina's Fourth District is home to one of the largest innovation hubs in the country, the Research Triangle, and is known for its top research universities and community colleges," said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. “I am excited to serve on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to advance groundbreaking research and cutting-edge technologies, and tackle our nation's most pressing issues for current and future generations."

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has jurisdiction over much of the non-defense Federal research and development (R&D) portfolio. The Committee has exclusive jurisdiction over the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). The Committee also has authority over R&D activities at the Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
