WASHINGTON, DC (February 1, 2023) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) was appointed to serve as the Vice Ranking Member on the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

“I am deeply honored to serve as Vice Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). “Our nation’s rail transport is an economic engine that connects urban and rural communities across the country, and it is critical to conduct the necessary oversight to ensure the rail industry stays on track. I look forward to working with Subcommittee Ranking Member Payne to enhance transport safety initiatives, bolster the resiliency of our transit systems, and deliver environmentally friendly transportation solutions for the American people and future generations.”

The Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee oversees economic and safety regulation of railroads, the transportation of hazardous materials, and the issue of pipeline safety. The Subcommittee also has authority over the agencies that administer these regulations and has jurisdiction over the Surface Transportation Board (STB), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Amtrak Inspector General, Northeast Corridor Infrastructure and Operations Advisory Commission, and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).
