Congresswoman Foushee’s Statement on Ceasefire and Hostage Deal

WASHINGTON, DC (January 16, 2025) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), released the following statement on the ceasefire and hostage agreement reached between Israel and Hamas.

“This ceasefire and hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas marks a significant and hopeful turning point in the conflict. After over fifteen months of devastation and suffering, hostages will finally be returned to their families, and Palestinian civilians will be able to receive the dire humanitarian aid they desperately need. I’m immensely grateful that Chapel Hill native, Keith Siegel, will be among those released and will be reunited with his loved ones.

“This breakthrough has been made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Biden Administration, Secretary Blinken, and other U.S. officials, whose leadership and diplomatic resolve played a pivotal role in negotiations. This ceasefire deal is a critical step forward and holds the promise of further dialogue, reconciliation, and a lasting peace that ensures the security, stability, and dignity for both Israelis and Palestinians.”
