Congresswoman Foushee Votes To Keep Federal Government Open

WASHINGTON, DC (September 25, 2024) — Today, U.S. Representative Valerie Foushee (NC-04) released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 9747, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025. This bill provides a short-term stopgap measure to fund the government through December 20, 2024, averting a federal government shutdown.

“Despite House Republicans’ previous attempts to impose extremist policy riders that further their far-right ideological agenda through the appropriations process, I am glad that we were able to come together in a bipartisan manner to pass a clean short-term funding bill,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. “This bill is not perfect and far from a permanent solution but is necessary to avert a reckless government shutdown that would harm working families. In the coming weeks, Congress must enact full-year funding bills that includes emergency assistance, disaster relief, support for our veterans, and fully serves the needs of the American people.”
