WASHINGTON, DC (October 23, 2025) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) released the following statement after the North Carolina General Assembly voted to pass new congressional maps in an attempt to gain a dominant 11-3 majority in North Carolina’s congressional delegation.
“Our democracy depends on its representative bodies being a reflection of its people, and North Carolina’s maps should reflect our evenly divided state. Instead, the Republican-controlled North Carolina General Assembly is again subjecting the people of our state to unfair electoral maps that will disenfranchise voters and discourage civic participation,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). “Republicans have long stopped all efforts to establish independent redistricting commissions, and now their intentions could not be more clear: they would rather rig our elections to do Donald Trump’s bidding over serving the people of our great state. North Carolinians should not be used as political pawns, and they deserve fair congressional maps that truly reflect the voices of every community across our state.”
