Congresswoman Foushee Announces Committee and Subcommittee Assignments for the 119th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC (February 6, 2025) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04) announced that she was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the 119th Congress. Congresswoman Foushee will serve on the Energy Subcommittee and as Ranking Member on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee in the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. In the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congresswoman Foushee will serve on the Aviation Subcommittee and the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee.

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has jurisdiction over much of the non-defense Federal research and development (R&D) portfolio. The Committee has exclusive jurisdiction over the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). The Committee also has authority over R&D activities at the Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation: aviation, maritime and waterborne transportation, highways, bridges, mass transit, and railroads. The Committee also has jurisdiction over other aspects of our national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the management of federally owned real estate and public buildings, the development of economically depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, and hazardous materials transportation.
