Rep. Foushee Selected to Participate in Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program, Seeks Applicants for District Office

DURHAM, NC (August 23, 2024) — Today, U.S. Representative Valerie Foushee (NC-04) announced that she is seeking applications for a two-year paid position in her Durham District Office through the U.S. House of Representatives’ Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program. The candidate selected for this position will join the Congresswoman’s district team as a special assistant/driver and will coordinate safety and security logistics, assist with engaging veterans organizations and local law enforcement, and more.

“Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to those who have served in our Armed Forces, and as the proud spouse of a veteran, I am pleased to be participating in the Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. “This unique program will ensure our veterans, Gold Star Families, and active-duty spouses receive the support, care, and services they have earned and deserve, and I encourage all eligible individuals to apply for this opportunity to serve our community at the federal level.”

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program was established by the U.S. House of Representatives to provide congressional employment opportunities for veterans, Gold Star Family members, and/or active-duty spouses who meet all of the following requirements:

  • Veterans must be Honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, terminal pay grades at or below E-5, O-3, or W-2. Veterans promoted to the pay grades of E-6, O-4, and W-3 within 6-months of separation from active duty are eligible, granted they meet all other eligibility requirements. Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authorization (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.
  • Gold Star applicants must be the spouse, parent/step-parent, sibling/step-sibling, child or step-child of a service member who died in the line of duty, or died from a service connected disability.
  • Active-duty spouses must be a spouse of a service member serving on active duty in a regular component of the armed forces.
