Congresswoman Foushee Votes Against House Republican’s Standalone Israel Security Supplemental

WASHINGTON, DC (February 6, 2024) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), released the following statement after the United States House of Representatives voted on H.R. 7217, an Israel-only supplemental aid package that fails to address additional national security priorities and denies much-needed humanitarian assistance overseas.

“At a time of crisis around the world, it is important now more than ever for Congress to pass a comprehensive supplemental aid package that will address our national security challenges domestically and abroad. This standalone legislation released by House Republicans undermines bipartisan efforts to secure our border, excludes critical support for key international partners in Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific, and fails to deliver urgently needed and lifesaving humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.

“It is absolutely shameful for House Republicans to endanger our national security and play political games under the guise of supporting Israel’s security. Congress must come together and pass a serious national security supplemental package that will not only ensure Israel can decisively defeat Hamas terrorists, but will also tackle our pressing national security priorities throughout the world.”
