Congresswoman Foushee Applauds Passage of the American Aviation Act

WASHINGTON, DC (July 20, 2023) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, voted to pass the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) from Fiscal Year 2024 to Fiscal Year 2028.


“The Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act will ensure America’s position as a global leader in safe and secure aviation systems and infrastructure,” said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). “This bipartisan bill provides critical funding for investments and innovation in aviation accessibility, workforce support, and consumer protection initiatives. I’m proud to have voted yes for this bill to create well-paying jobs and support further sustainability in aviation which will boost the American economy.”
 
The bipartisan aviation authorization bill overwhelmingly passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 351 to 69 with Congresswoman Foushee securing the following priorities: 

  • Sec. 417: Enhances the State Block Grant Program through the FAA administrative funding to participating states, including North Carolina. 
  • Sec. 101, 411: Expands the Airport Improvement Program through additional funding and prioritization. 
  • Sec. 314: Improves Controller staffing by updating the FAA’s Controller Workforce Plan (CWP).
