WASHINGTON, DC (December 6, 2023) — Today, Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04), announced a $1 billion grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to develop a new intercity passenger rail route between Raleigh, NC and Richmond, VA along the CSX Transportation “S-Line” that will connect North Carolina with Virginia, Washington D.C., and the Northeast Corridor.
“I’m proud to see this historic investment which will bolster North Carolina’s transportation infrastructure, an effort which I championed long before arriving to Congress, and expands on the work by Congressman David Price, my predecessor, to advance this passenger rail route. These generational investments made by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to develop this intercity passenger rail route will further transit expansion and economic development in North Carolina’s Fourth District”, said Congresswoman Valerie Foushee (NC-04). “Once again, the Biden-Harris administration continue to deliver for North Carolinians, and I applaud their dedication towards improving local infrastructure, and supporting our local economy.”
Congresswoman Foushee serves as a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, and serves as the Vice Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials.
